My research is basically stalled at Christopher/Phoebe Mundt and George/Emma Haeffner. Chris and George emigrated from Germany and I have approximate dates of 1870 and 1875 from census records. However, I found Chris on the SS Bavaria arriving New York 11/19/1873 from Marseilles. Phoebe was born in Iowa and Emma in Nebraska. In the Nebraska City Public Library, I had found a book on prominent county residents in 1900 and Emma's father, Christian Smallfoot, was listed. His bio has him born in Leipzig, Germany and emigrating when he was 14 or so. He lived in the Wisconsin Dells for a time before coming to Otoe County, NE. Chris Mundt and George Haeffner homesteaded near each other in Phelps County, NE and two Mundt brothers (Robert and William) married two Haeffner sisters (Ella and Viola). Also, Phoebe Mundt (sister) married George Haeffner (brother). I believe all that is correct.

I have begun to add in my mother's family tree. This has been more extensively researched as they published a book of the family tree in the early 1980's. They traced the line back to the early 1500's in Switzerland and have recorded 10 generations in the US. This is the Hess family descending from Hans John Hess of Lancaster County, PA (formerly, Chester County).
