The Capt. Julius Giesler of Wisconsin

The Giesler family of Prussian primarily emigrated to the United States after the civil unrest of 1848. Julius Giesler became a Captian in the 3rd Wisconsin Calvary during the American Civil War. Julius was killed on 11 March 1865 during a skirmish in Plum Bayou Arkansas.

Mathilda Franciska Anneke (Giesler) is his older sister. She was a famous writer and woman's rights advocate in both Europe and the United States.
