I started a research for my family, the Torgersen family from Drammen, Norway on my mother’s side, and on my fathers side "the Brannes" from Torsø, Sweden. . On my moms side I started with my great-grandfather Christopher Torgersen, born 1821, Bingen, Eker, and Norway. However, from this person it grows out many branches and leaves, and still the Tree is budding. Since I live in Norway and at least half of the “tribe” is living in USA I have got info from a “cousin” Bobbie Real, living in Sacramento, Calif. Her grandma Sophie Helene and my grandpa Otto were brother and sister. From Bobbie’s side I have linked her information’s to my original Tree. Its a huge tree now with over 300 leaves-persons, and every day, - more to come. It is springtime in our tree now. I am trying to gather information, which I feel still is missing. Keyword: Dates and new grandchildren, marriages and so on. I will also try to scan photoes, which Bobbie sent me, especially from her French side of her family. They have been clever to take care of old photos. I got a film on CD from her parent’s honeymoon visiting Mallinggt. Drammen, Norway in 1929. And I looked at Mallinggt.1 and no 13 as well. And Gurine and tante Gina’s shop on the corner. Tordis, Barber Pettersen, Gudrun mother uncle Thorvald, and I assume Uncle Rolf too. Others can also be identified; it is only a question of time. But still a lot of information’s are missing for Bobbie and me, to full fill this job. Especially I need help on the Norwegian side. Bobbie & Cie are taking care of the US side.
The families you will find here is: Norwegian side: ·Torgersen, from Skalstad, Skatvedt and Støvern. (My mother’s side, starting in 1630) This ends in Norway with different family names, And in USA under the Corby, Lee and Norby family
· Brännes, Fredrikson, Nålby (Nolby), from Sweden (My fathers side starting in 1613)
But in this Tree’s branch it includes other family names, which must be mentioned. Till now you also will find names like: · In Norway: Julsen, Simensen, Idal, Nordquist. · In USA: Jones, Sheggerud, and Corby’s french side Ginaux, Gautier, -and many more.
If you can contribute with more facts on your side, please let me know by mailing me. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. Later all of you can take a copy from this Tree to start your own Tree. We are gardening.
On behalf of Bobbie and me
Love Arild
