My Grandfather was Albert George Wheatley, and the male line continues back through Archibald Wheatley (1880-1923), William Wheatley (1843-1923), Tobias Wheatley (bn1800- ?), William Wheatley. On the way they married Hoult, Finch and Gregory. The Wheatley's lived in and around Walton-on-Thames and had all manner of trades - basket weaver, butcher, bricklayer and tailor. The Hoults moved from Dover into London where the father of the bride was an umbrella manufacturer. A kind gentleman in South Africa found a great uncle Albert Edward Wheatley who had gone there in the army and died shortly after the end of the Boer War.
I also have plenty of Welsh ancestors with surnames like Rees, Jones, Richards and Reynolds, Davies and Thomas. These are a little harder to sort out because so many people had the same name.
