will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
The mantle of family historian was passed to me about 35 years ago by an earlier family history buff. I have attended family reunions in various parts of the country, researched land grants and probate records from Salt Lake City to Boston, having documented and compiled sufficient data on my family patriot, Benjamin Cave, that the D.A.R. accepted me as a member in 1989.
In Laurelville, Ohio, the matriarch, Rebecca Reid, is buried in the churchyard of a single room 200+ year-old-church. Her progeny helped settle Ohio about 1810, having arrived in this country about 1792.
The Clinton and Turbeville Branch of the Family has been researched back to South Carolina but the date of their arrival in America is yet to be determined. Research has shown that the ancestral relationship with the Alton Family has been traced back to about 1695 in Westchester, New York.
