Fleeing the Soviet Union in the mid seventies, the Naimans arrived on the shores of Sydney, Australia in June 1979. Since then we have flourished as the only "Naiman" family in the whole of the Australian continent.
The last 24 years in AUstralia has been a fantastic period for our family. Giving us the opportunity to put doewn roots in our new home of Australia. In recent times the next generation of the family has begun to form their own families.
Over the last decade we have had the pleasure of welcoming the first Australian born members of the Naiman family (the rest of us were born in the old country).
These exciting events are marred by the lack of information we have about our past, as we venture into the future. As Jews living in World War II Eaurope, we tragically lost the bulk of our wider family at the hands of the Germans (My grandfather lost no less than 12 siblings alone). With this we have lost not just the souls of our brethren, but the vast family history that was handed down from parent to child.
If anybody out there has (or had) the surname Naiman, and has origins in Europe (especially the former USSR, Gernamy or Poland) then I would really love to hear from you. Send an E-mail to vatican.naiman@mail.com
