Shirley Ann Sheridan was born on December 15, 1933 to James and Venira Sheridan. On August 19, 1950, she married Earl Nauman. Earl is the son of Joseph (born September 19, 1899) and Lucille Boehle Nauman (born July 7, 1901). He was born on June 3, 1926. They have seven children: Dave, Dan, Tom, Teresa, Kim, Joe, and Dennis. Earl and Shirley own and operate the Long Branch Saloon in Amboy, IL, which they bought in 1984. Earl also has his own patent for what is named Nauman Volleyball Systems, his own creative invention. He is a life-long farmer, and continues to do so. In the summer of 1999 he underwent open heart surgery to correct some blockage, and has been in good health since that time. Shirley is a retired bus driver for the Amboy schools.
The oldest, David Joseph, was born on October 6, 1951. He married Ladonna Sue Singleton on June 4, 1999. She was born on July 23, 1956. Sue has a daughter, Taylor Brook Singleton that is Dave's step-daughter. Taylor was born on September 22, 1988. Dave works with his father and also for the State of Illinios. Sue works for a marketing company. Taylor is in junior high and enjoys spending time with her friends.
Dan was born on March 30, 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Laurie Grasser, on July 17, 1976. Laurie was born April 2, 1955. They have three children: Dana Marie, Nicholas James, and Lisa Ann. In spring of 1992, Dan underwent a successful bone marrow transplant for leukemia. The marrow was donated by his older brother, Dave. Dan works at Caterpillar in Aurora, IL. Although he is a man of few words, people listen when he speaks. He enjoys riding horses. Laurie is a supervisor at Ace Hardware Retail Support Center. Dana was born on January 23, 1979. After graduating as valedictorian, she attends Western Illinois University. She plans to begin law school and become a lawyer. Nick was born May 28, 1980. An athlete, Nick attends Aurora University in IL and is on the football team. He is also an avid snowmobiler. Lisa Ann was born October 5, 1984, with a congenital heart block. She was able to live her life as a healthy, athletic, young woman, until she died in a horse-riding accident on June 17, 1999.
Tommy Patrick is the third child of Earl and Shirley, born on December 25, 1955. He married Cheryl Keubel on October 30, 1976. She was born April 14, 1954. They have three children: Tanya Marie, Jesse Aaron, and Lindsay Ann. Tom served as a City of Amboy alderman for fourteen years, and currently works for the State of Illinois. He also has his own business, Nauman Excavating. Cheryl works at the H.F. Gehant Bank in West Brooklyn, IL. During the 1999-2000 school year they hosted a foreign exchange student, Anita, who was born in Poland and raised in Germany. Tanya was born March 17, 1979. After graduating with honors from high school, she is now attending Rockford College in Rockford, IL. She is on the basketball team there and is engaged to Daniel Ketchum. Jesse was born on October 14, 1980. A talented athlete, Jesse works with his father and at HWI in Dixon, IL. Lindsay was born April 6, 1983. She is a junior at Amboy High School and participates in volleyball and basketball.
Kimberly Ann was the first daughter born to Earl and Shirley on January 16, 1959. She married Jim Goebel on March 5, 1977. He was born on August 18, 1955 and raised in Lena, IL. They have four children: Cory James, Carl John, Ryan Michael, and Ashley Renea. Jim owns and operates Goebel Construction, which his sons work for with him. Another athletic family, Cory was the first born on December 17, 1977. He was a great wrestler and football player. He currently resides in Lena just down the street from his younger brother Carl. Carl was born June 26, 1980. During high school he was a champion wrestler, and resides in Lena. Ryan was born January 18, 1982, and will graduate from high school in 2000. He is also a good athlete.
