The John McLeods of Money Creek Minnesota

Updated March 3, 2001

About Our Family Research

I am the Great Grand-daughter of JoHanna Elizabeth McLeod sister of John McLeod who settled with his siblings in Money Creek Minnesota where the rented a farm until 1898. They then homesteaded land in Roseau County, Minnesota. The community was called Cedar Bend and it was on the bank of the Warroad River. There parents were George and Catherine MacIver McLeod of the Highlands of Scotland. JoHanna was born April 30, 1873 in Scotland. I have been told in Sands Scotland but can find no such place. Her older sister Anna was born October 21, 1869. They came to America in 1882. JoHanna's father planned to bring the whole family but died before the were able to come, so Johanna's brother John with his uncle brought a Grandmother (do not know if this was Catherine or not) siblings Mary, Belle, Anna, Johanna (Hanna for short) and Roderick to America. I have my family tree to this point. I am trying now to link them with the McLeods line in Scotland. I am trying to find information from George and Catherine back. If you have information that would help it would be greatly appreciated and I would be glad to give out the information that I have.
