The Nemeth's of Nova Scotia, Philadelphia, & New York

Updated November 30, 2000

About Our Family Research

I am seeking to verify information that I have received from relatives of mine regarding this side of my family. I've been informed that my Great-grandmother was a "Burgermeister" in Budapest, Hungary. I find this difficult to believe since she was a woman. My Grandfather's name was Calvin Nemeth, possibly spelled Colvin. He was a pianist supposedly. He married my Grandmother who was considerabley younger than he. Her name was Demerse Dizon, the spelling might be wrong. I am looking to find out as much information as I can about my Grandfather's side of the family. My aunt has told me that she knew my Great-grandmother and that this woman had a flat in New York somewhere. I know that when they left Hungary they travelled to Nova Scotia. My father died when I was very young and I have never had a constant connection with this side of the family. I am interested to find out whether these stories are in fact fabrications or not. Any input is appreciated.
