Our family search began in 1978. The Nichols family in Philadelphia, Pa. began before the Revolutionary War.The Porter's have been traced from SE Pennsylvania to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the early 1800's. In the early 1900's, our Porter's traveled south to the Columbia, South Carolina area where many are residing today. The Forte and the Nicosia branches came to the U.S. from Italy in the early 1900's. They settled in the Philadelphia, Penna. area and today range into southern New Jersey. We migrated from Philadelphia, Pa. to New Jersey in 1965 and currently reside in Deptford Twp., Gloucester County.
The four main branches of our tree are Nichols, Porter, Forte, and Nicosia. The sub-branches include the Lindner and Gallant families on the Nichols side and the Cianfrani and LoDuca families on the Forte side.
We are spread from Pennsylvania throughout Southern New Jersey, south to Virginia into both Carolinas and Fla. Other sub-branches are as far west as Texas and others remain in Italy.
