Most of my Nicholson family originated in Somerset County Pa. Robert and Christina Nicholson had five children. Hugh b.1797, Maria Magdalena b. May 19, 1800, Chane b. Oct, 1803, William b. 1808 and John Robert, b.July 1811. Robert and Christina attended the Sanner Luthern Church in Black Twp.
Roberts son William (born 1808), had a son named Benjamin John Nicholson. He was born Jan 19, 1833 in Milford Twp. Ben married Margaret Keefer. On Sept 24, 1862, Ben joined the 16th Cav Pa. Volunteers. Ben went AWOL and hid in a cave. It was at that time, my Great, Great Grandfather Ben Jr. was concieved. Ben was caputred and sent back to the War. He was captured by the Confederates and sent to Andersonville Prison where he died of dysentery. He never saw his son Ben Jr.
My Connor family came from Ireland and originally settled in Green Co. Pennsylvania
