MY FAMILY'S ORIGINS

MY FATHER'S FAMILY:

My Father's ancestral lines were as varied and colorful as I could imagine any could be. His Paternal lines date to Mayflower passengers; 1709 German Palatines to New York; and the earliest settlers of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, and Maryland. My Father's Maternal lines include a Schleswig-Holstein immigrant who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War; settlers who were among the earliest immigrants to Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina; a Cuban soldier of Spanish blood from Florida's Second Spanish Occupation in 1784; and the very earliest non-Spanish settlers of East Florida in the 1760's who came from England, Germany, and Alsace-Lorraine.

MY MOTHER'S FAMILY:

The origin of my Mother's ancestral lines, while every bit as colorful as my Father's, were concentrated in the British Isles, only. Her Paternal lines were of Irish origin, although several generations resided in Central England where their Birmingham, Warwickshire residency taught three generations the art of metal working as sawyers, gunsmiths, and silversmiths. Her Maternal lines were of Scottish and Northern Ireland origin who sought a new life in the New World. The Scotts settled in Glengarry, Ontario in 1786 after having been thrust from their homes, and her Irish ancestors of County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland came to escape both economic depression of mid-19th century Ireland and religious persecution because of their Roman Catholic belief.

SURNAMES:

My ancestral lines and related families comprise the following surnames:

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THOUGHTS:

"I am unique, unlike anyone else in the World; yet, I am a part of all those who have gone before me!"
