I am research The Fortner Family from Georgia and Florida.
My GGGrandfather Ebenezer Swain Fortner, was born in Kite, Johnson County, GA. In Nov. 1900 he moved his family to Northern Florida to the county of Calhoun.
Ebenezer was the son of Swain Montgomery and Sophia Saphire (Powell) Fortner. Swain was the 2nd born to Sarah Jane Swain Fortner. Still little is known about his father James Fortner i.e. marriage date, death date, or where he went after 1820. So this is where my mystery begins...
