The Nurse Family in Western Australia

Updated November 6, 2002

About Our Family Research

The Nurse family.

We have lived in Western Australia since 1971. In 1969/70 my family decided to become "Ten Pound Poms" and emigrated to Australia December 1970. Since the Suez was closed we came the long way around South Africa.

Needless to say nearly all of our other relations stayed in England and over the years the contact has been infrequent. Thankfully my parents are still alive so going back to my grandparents was easy, from there I am really not to sure.

I managed to get the Family Tree together going back to the early 1800's. The name list so far is Nurse, Smy, Govis, Woolner (or Woolnough), Robinson, Vinter and Stroulger. If anyone has any information about the above names please let me know. As far as I can work out the areas of origin are;

Nurse, Norfolk

Smy, Suffolk

Govis, Sunderland

Woolner, Suffolk

Robinson, Yorkshire

Vinter, Lincolnshire

Stroulger, Suffolk
