I am researching the surname NUTBROWN, with special emphasis on descendants of Thomas Nutbrown and Ann Cottam who came to Quebec from Yorkshire, England in 1830. I am also researching over one hundred New England names, and have family links to royalty. Please visit my "other" Home on the Net, at Rootsweb. (Address below). You will be able to access over 15,000 surnames, many from the medieval period.
Notes: I live in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec only 25 km from the Vermont border, in an area settled almost 100% by English settlers from New England and England, but where it is now illegal to put up an English sign because of the government's discriminatory language laws. Even courteous English signs in hospitals have had to be removed. Restrictions also exist on schooling. Francophone students cannot attend English schools, and Anglophone students must prove eligibility in order to attend English schools.
We always look forward to traveling into other parts of Canada and the United States. I was a teacher at Alexander Galt High School in Lennoxville, Quebec for 25 years. Now I am retired.
