I am researching my greatgrandfather Herbert Parks who came from Virginia to Arkansas about 1860. He was hanged by bushwhackers in Scott County Arkansas on July 20, 1863. His son who was a private in the confederate army and was home on leave was also hanged that day. His wife Eleaner Loy Park and her two children Mary Park and my grandfather Samuel J Park left for Texas after the hangings and stayed until the war's end at which time they returned to Arkansas. Eleaner Loy died in 1875 and is buried beside her husband and son in a field near Cauthron Arkansas. The gravesite was respected these last 140 years by the various owners of the land by plowing around it and leaving it unmolested. I have recently bought the land and intend to establish a menorial there called "Parks Memorial Civil War Cemetary" to be administered by a trust the trustees of which will be decendents of Herbert Park.
