This is a story of Oas' - who originally came from Norway... We believe the area is outside of Oslo... Originally spelled Aas... The first A had an 'umlat' - giving the 'o' sound... Martin Peter was married once in Minneapolis when his wife died with the children being in their teens... He married again and his wife died in child birth... We do not know the wives names and are anxious to know more about them... There may have been more than two children with the first marriage - but we know that the boy was Sam Oas and girl was Minnie (her daughter and family live in the Minneapolis area named "Mellek")... Martin took his only son Arthur with him to Tacoma and first worked on the building of Pacific Lutheran University... Sam was already in town with an established boarding house down on the railroad tracks of industrial Tacoma... Arthur grew to love the water and became a boatman who frequented Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Port Orchard, and Olalla... This is where he met Edith his wife... They were married in 1910... Their son Kenneth is my Father - who now is 88 years old... His first wife was Esther "Anderson" of Seattle (died in 1966); then second wife Harriet "Johnston"-"Kamfor" of Oregon)... They live in Olalla on the same property that Arthur was forced to sell in the Depression... While I was young I remember my dad buying back these pieces as he could... I have two adopted children Jason & Andrea... We live in the Greater Seattle area... I am John (adopted, as well)... As of 2001 my wife Kay (her side is "Swanson") and I have been married 31+ years and live in the Burien area... I am Chaplain for the Seattle Police Department... Please write if you know parts that I may have left aside... Thank You!
