I am currently concentrating my research on my mother's family, to include such ancestors as her paternal grandparents, James Francis and Alice Mary (Weldon) Inglis; and paternal great-grandparents, James Frances and Elizabeth(Kelly)Inglis; her maternal grandparents, Charles Toppan and Estelle Josephine (May) Baird; and maternal great-grandparents, Milon Emmett and Fannie Louella (Toppan) Baird. There has been considerable documentation of the Toppan family, as landed gentry in the United States, as far back as the 1600s. Our research so far has shown that our family originated in the British Isles. The Toppan family name has seen several variations or changes over the centuries. We have seen such variations as Toppan, Tappan, Toppin, Topham, and de Topham. I will eventually add the family tree for my father's side of the family. My father's cousin, Gerd Wyrwas, has done considerable work documenting the Wyrwas family, particularly its European roots. The Wyrwas' have a long history in Poland and Germany. Other surnames on the Wyrwas side of the family include Bruch, Barancyk (or Baranczyk), and Walkowski.
