About Our Family Research

I HAVE RESEARCHED ARCHIBALD ODOM BACK TO MARION COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, 1758. HE WAS A MEMBER OF FRANCIS MARION, THE SWAMP FOX'S REGIMENT IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. HE WAS GRANTED A TRACT OF LAND IN PULASKI COUNTY, GEORGIA AS A VETERAN AND DIED THERE IN 1845. HE WAS BURIED IN A MARKED GRAVE NEAR HAWKINSVILLE, GEORGIA. ACCORDING TO RECORDS FROM MARION COUNTY, HE WAS BORN IN SCOTLAND IN 1740 AND HIS SURNAME COULD HAVE BEEN SPELLED ODUM OR OLDHAM. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHERE HE WAS FROM IN GREAT BRITAIN. I THINK HE WAS MORE LIKELY FROM ENGLAND AND HIS FATHER WAS BORN IN 1740 AND HE WAS REALLY BORN IN MARION COUNTY IN 1758 BECAUSE HE WAS 17 YEARS OLD WHEN HE ENLISTED IN THE ARMY AND IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT HE LIVED TO BE 105 YEARS OLD.
