My distaff grandfather was John Joseph Hawker, born circa 1871 in Guernsey, subsequently moving to London, Residence, 18 Arcadia Street, Poplar, East London. Latterly moving to Roydon in Essex , He died in (I think) in 1942 at Hospital in Bishops Stortford, also in Essex. I should like to know the maiden name of his wife and any other such details about him. Details of his children I already have. His former wife died in Ware, Hertfordshire in 1983.Four children, Charles born April 5 1904,Susan Maud and Martha Elizabeth born January 13th 1908 and Ethel born 1912. All resident at the above address until subsequent marriages. Any earlier details of the Hawker family would be welcomed and any other information which will help me in building a profile of the family. There was a brother, William Hawker born 1874, also in Guernsey who also moved to London/Poplar and was a resident at 112, Blair Street, Poplarup to at least 1918 or possible 1934. He was a seaman who served with the Union Castle line from 1900 until his last ship was sunk in 1941 or 1942. He was on the Dunbar Castle at the time.
