Our family geneological search has been carried on by three generations so far and is evidenced in these pages. More than 20 years ago we sat down with Isabelle and Bob Olden to share the facts of the Olden side of the family at a "Roots" dinner. Since then we have continued to add to the search and collection of data to compile this latest family tree. Most of our search for this side of the family has ended on America's shores, but we have begun the search in Ireland as well. On the Ferrando family side, through Bernadette, we have managed to trace our family roots to Italy and also to Portugal! But the geneology is hazy still and much more work is to be done. Tracing our heritage is a joyous task. It reminds us of the sacrifices and challenges our forefathers endured so that we could have a better life. It is up to us to hold fast to their ideals of hard work, sacrifice and courage, so that our children can also enjoy the benefits our ancestors struggled so hard to win for us. The common threads that we find as we study the past are hard work, belief in American ideals and a strong Catholic faith. It is exciting to see how far we have come over these last one hundred and fifty or so years and to wonder what horizons and new worlds we have yet to conquer as a family!
