About Our Family Research

On the Genealogical Trail for O'Leary, Moynehan, Powers family
lines. My GGF, Patrick O'Leary married a Catharine Powers in
1854 in Galion, Ohio. They had 3 children--Honora,Mirian,James.
Catharine died in 1860 (she is buried in Galion, Ohio cemetery),
and Patrick remarried, circa 1862/3, to Julia Moynihan in Buffalo, NY. They had 4 children--Nellie, Johanna, James, Humphrey, all born in Galion. Ohio. Humphrey was my grandfather, born on 4 July 1872.
Both his parents died in 1875, months apart. Both are buried with Catharine, in the family plot in the Catholic Cemetery in Galion Ohio. The family plot was bought by Johanna O'Leary circa 1930. To date, we have no
information on GGF and both GGMs --no information whatsoever as to
date&place of birth, marriage, death of their parents, siblings,
uncles, aunts, etc..., nor when/how they migrated and arrived on
US soil.
Grandfather Humphrey was in the Spanish American War, serving in the Philippines during the Philippine Insurrection. Discharged
in 1909/1901, he stayed in the Philippines, married a local, and
raised a family. He made his name a construction man, earning the
title of "builder of churches", which he built a lot of. In the 1920s, he built De La Salle College in Taft Ave, Manila. He was
interned by the Japanese in Santo Tomas during WW11. He passed
away in 1948, and is buried in La Loma Cemetery, north of Manila.
