Clan MacMillan Y-DNA Surname Project

Updated March 13, 2004

About Our Family Research

Authorized by Chief George MacMillan of MacMillan and Knap, this site is about the Y-DNA testing project currently under way on http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=K81067&special=True. This is an exciting new way to conduct genealogical research!

Any male of the MacMillan line, including nearly 200 variants of the name recognized by Clan MacMillan is cordially invited to join this project.

It is oriented toward genealogy, not medical, paternal or criminal DNA testing. We expect to enhance current genealogical reseach that has been done by members of Clan MacMillan.

FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA) is the company I have chosen to complete the testing. This company was started by a genealogist and its entire focus is toward providing testing and results to help the researcher establish or further contacts w/ other MacMillans. FTDNA provides easy testing from anywhere in the world at inexpensive group rates.

FTDNA retains test samples for twenty-five years and will apply new tests as they are developed with out the need to gather new samples.

Privacy is assured. Participants will receive written reports of his own test results and will have the opportunity to contact other participants who show a close match.

We are also working w/ the administrators of other Scottish clan surname projects and expect to establish inter-relationships among the clans.

Please take a look at the project at http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=K81067&special=True.

Thank you!
Adhaniá MacMullen Olson, Project Administrator
