In researching my family history, I discovered that these four branches of our family migrated to Alabama in the early 1800's.

Our family has had members to fight in the Revelutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

Our family has many stories to tell, and my goal is to share the information I uncover with any one interested in one of these branches of my family. My Sister's husband Huey Lamar Alverson's family history is also included.

It is a family tradition that my mother's family is related to William Hooper, who signed the Declaration of Independance.

My father's great great Uncle (Pleasant Ware Self) on his father's side and his great great aunt (Nancy King) on his mother's side married on January 19, 1842 in St. Clair County Alabama. They later relocated to Clarksville Arkansas with several of Nancy's brothers. Those that stayed behind in Alabama kept in touch through family reunions for many many years.

  • Donny and Danny Self (226 KB)
Donny and Danny are my double first cousins as well. They were always difficult to tell apart. But I realized, while looking at their childhood pictures, that the shape of their faces were a little different. Donny's looked A shaped and Danny's looked O shaped. It made it a lot easier to tell them apart this way.
