I am starting from scratch on researching my Oman family. I have very little to go by.
I am from Michigan as was my father and grandfather (Clare, Farwell area). I am not sure if any of the others lived there or not.
I have been told (by family)that the Oman family comes from Sweden, and the name was changed at Ellis Island from Jhonsan (spelling could be off) sounds like Yonson. Although I have read that no names were changed at Ellis.
Here is the information that I have, which is not much. And a bit of information which I received via e mail. Which has names and ages from 1930.
Starting with my Father:
Allen F. Oman 10/06/1926 to 02/01/1989 Married Laura Crabtree of Kewadin Michigan
Brother Stanley Still living Married Barbara Tinkem (Spelling)
Grand-Dad Charles Oman wife Ann Louise (Nelson) Oman
Grand-Dad had brothers and sisters as follows:
Louie, Peter, John, Ann, Mary and Carrie.
(Mary and Carrie were twins)
Peter has (or had) children Elizabeth, Virgil, Bob, (and a Lois or Louis not sure)
John has (or had) children Carl, Andrew and Dorothy
I believe that Carl and Andrew lived in or near Garden City, Michigan.

Anna, age 71, a widow, Mary A. a daughter, Ann Wells, a married daughter.
In Garfield townshop: Peter Oman age 42, born Sweden comes to states in 1889, a retail merchant. Blanche, age 40, born in MI.
Kids Elizabeth C. age 11, Virgil L. age 7, Louise, age 4 yrs 2 months, Robert L, under the age of 1.
Also found with this spelling
John OHMAN, age 49 born Sweden, wife Alice, age 52,
Andrew 18, Dorothy, (??) age 16, and Carl age 12, (also for Clare County)
