My great-grandmother was Maude Alexandrina Belfon George. I'm currently working on both the Belfon and George family trees.

Let me start off with the Belfon side. Maude went by her middle name in public documents. On one trip to the U.S. from Grenada, she traveled with a Fred Leid and a Iha Leid. I'm currently looking into whether she was also part of the Leid family. I'm also trying to figure out if she was perhaps an Alexander.

I'll refer to her as Alexandrina from here on. She had a brother named Bennett Belfon and a sister named Mercy Belfon Nelson. Family legend has it that Alexandrina's father or grandfather fell for her mother/grandmother and his family disowned him. I've been able to pair this with another family story I've heard from a newly found cousin that Duddy Belfon was the family rebel who was disowned from his family. He shot someone over property and had to flee to Martinique or France for his life.
