Patrick O'Neill was born in Tipperary ,Ireland in 1779. He married Ellen English-born 1803 in Tipperary.Patrick and his family emigrated to Canada during the potato famine of 1837 and settled in Cavan, Ontario. In 1848 Patrick purchased lot 3 con 10 Emily township and moved there in 1850.

  December 27, 1954 Patrick James O'Neill was crushed by a CPR train While working at the Quaker Oats Co. in Peterborough. Patrick spent many months recuperating from these injuries.
