Hi I have been researching the ONLEY family for 10 PLUS years. My current data base has 16,800 names. Sorry not all Onleys. My Mother was a BAKER from North Carolina and make up a large portion of the data base. CLEMENT ONLY arrive to Accomack County Virginia on the Eastern Shore about 1643 later the town he lived in was called ONLEY from a house that was purchased by the late Gov. Wise of Virginia, pre Civil War.
My family line has many incomplete Onley families. My family line runs to North Carolina after JOHN ONLEY left Virginia in the early 1700s and married in North Carolina to Penelope last name unknown. Penelope is listed in the Census rolls alone after John dead.
I am always looking for new information. I try my best to separate the family of Olney from mine. The Olney or Oney from Rhode Island are a great group of people. We do help each other from time to time. We hope to one day connect Thomas Olney of Rhode Island the Clement Only of Virginia to the John Onley clain of England.
I also have help the Black Onley of Maryland, but I have been little help in trasing this family line.
