I am researching the Orgill line in England. My branch is based in Nottinghamshire but comes from Derbyshire, via Staffordshire, although I am quite new to geneology and may come accross conflicting info.
I am particularly interested in any Nottinghamshire relatives of Benjamin Orgill and his wife Emily Orgill nee parker or his father George Henry Orgill (b1836 in coleorton, Leic) who lived in Hammerwich, staffs, when Benjamin was born in 1877.
Benjamin's mother was called Mary ann. She must have been previously widdowed as his birth certificate names her as Mary Ann Orgill, late Grandley, formarly Tatler. His father was George Henry Orgill who had been married previously to another Mary Ann (berresford) and had twins in 1863, called John Thomas and Harriet.
George Henry Orgill's father was Henry Orgill (b about 1812 in Newhall, Derbyshire and mother was Elizabeth Eames (b1815 Tamworth) I am very interested in linking Henry to the other Orgills in Newhall area or finding his father's name as I am at a blank here.
Benjamin was born in 1877 in Ogley Hay, Staffordshire. Benjamin married Emily Parkin in Chasetown, Staffs at St Anne's church on the 22nd may 1899 before settling in Nottingham. They had many children one of which, Thomas Orgill was my husband's grandfather. He married Lily Middleton and settled in Blidworth, Notts. They had two children Keith and Dennis. Keith is my father in law. He married Edna Brownlow and had three children Gary, Lee and Tracy.
I would appreciate any info on any of the above people or indeed any other Orgills.
I am also researching Wellmans in England and I would be glad of any info on a Donald Charles Ernest Wellman who was born in the Portsmouth area of England before moving to Mansfield, Notts. Other surname interests for Nottinghamshire are: Harris, Fretwell, Fareham, Middleton, Brownlow and Bullock.
