I am researching my paternal ancestry of the Griffith families in the Northern Kentucky area. This includes Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, and Scott counties. The Griffith family originated somewhere in Pennsylvania with my GGGrandfather John W. Griffith, who was born April 15, 1801. I know nothing beyond his generation. Some related Griffith surnames are Aylor, Bloom/Blume, Carpenter, Edwards, Finnell, Glore/Clore, Jackson, Johnson, Miller, Roberts, and Sleet.
My maternal side is the Moore family from Redstone, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It begins with Captain John Moore (Revolutionary War fame) who moved to Fayette County about 1790. Some related Moore surnames are Chamberlain, Colvin, Harris, McCartney, Miller, Murphy, Pigg, Riddle, Taylor, Thompson, Thornton, Todd, Tomer, and Webster.
I have over 200 years of Ancestry in Boone County, Kentucky with several of my ancestors. I have been told by one of my cousins that I must be related to almost everyone I meet in this county, some I know I am related to and others I may never know our relationship. I was raised in Kenton County and for 45 years of my life I did not know my family's history. My father moved to Boone County in 1972 and is now living 1 mile from his great-grandfather's original farm. As built up as the area has become, it is hard to imagine what John W. Griffith's life was like in his early years.
Welcome to my homepage. If you think you are related to this family in anyway and would like to contribute, please email me at the address below. I would love to hear from you.
