About Our Family Research

This project is an attempt to gather information about the lineage of Osburn family members who migrated to the United States and eventually settled in and around Collin County, Texas, north of the Dalls/Fort Worth metroplex. Family oral history indicates these Osburn's were of Scotch-Irish descent and that they originally settled in North Carolina, then moved west in the area of Giles, Marshall, and Franklin counties in south central Tennessee, then further west where they finally settled in Collin County, Texas. The essential lineage is as follows:

Alexander Osburn (born 1763 in Devonshire, England) fathered...

Robert Osburn (born 1795 near Charlotte, North Carolina) fathered...

William Levy Osburn (born November 2, 1837 in Giles County, Tennessee) fathered...

Samuel Allen Osburn (born April 21, 1871 in Melissa, Texas) fathered...

Paul Allen Osburn (born November 23, 1898 in Shawnee, Oklahoma) fathered...

Charles Wayland Osburn (born 1934 in Val Dasta, Collin County, Texas) fathered...

Toby Wayland Osburn (born 1967 in Holdenville, Oklahoma).

The family had a large reunion in the summer of 1981 at the home of Wilfore and Ada Lee (Osburn) Whittenburg near Graham, Texas.
