I am researching the Oscroft family tree. The family resided in Sheffield from the 1830's when my Great grandfather, Denis, moved there from Holmsfield or Barlow in Derbyshire until WW2. He was born about 25 Mar 1821
He had 8 suviving children and 2 marriages.
He was first married to Harriot Howson they had 3 children. Hannah, Thomas, and Dennis.
Some time in the mid 1857ish he married Hannah Hoyland they had 5 children. Frederic (my grandfather), Emily (Ema), Amelia, Benjamin (Benji),and Aida.
Most of the children had 4/5 children of which I have some details. Some are known to have emigrated to Australia or South Africa.
From all the records I've managed to trace so far many of the Oscroft from Sheffield of this period will be related to this family group.
Can anyone fillin some of the gaps in the more recent history of the family. My father always claimed he had 38 cousins, I never met one of them.
