About Our Family Research

This is about Mr. and Mrs. Calvin M. Riddle my grandaddy and grandmother Riddle. First let's start with my grandaddy Riddle. Mr. Riddle was born 1859-1943 he was 84 at his death. Being born in Laurens County S.C. Mr. Riddle is buried at Gray Court Friendship Baptist Chrch Cemetery Laurens County S.C. Now Carrie Rampley was born 1864- 1958 she was 94 at her death. Now she is also buried at Gray Court Friendship Baptist Church Cemetry. And of course Carrie [Rampley] Riddle was married to Calvin M.Riddle. There's so much that i can tell about them both i never got to know grandaddy that much because i was not but three years of age when grandaddy died. But i have been told so much about my grandaddy that it seems that knew him very well. It has been told that grandaddy loved children and that the children loved him and that they called Mr. Riddle Santa Clause because of his white beard. He loved his family and he done everything for his family. Yes he loved his wife and he loved God and the church. Mr. and Mrs. Riddle lived in Greenville SC. on Pendleton street. Mr. and Mrs. Riddle was married for 64 years before that Mr. Riddle died in 1943 on November 23rd. Mr. Riddle always had a garden every year. He loved tomatos which he raised in his garden. When he was very sick they would bring him tomatos but he would turn his head and say nasty. Carrie Riddle stood by her husband as long as Mr. Riddle lived on this earth. Mrs. Riddle was always helping others. She just loved to reach out to others in need. When Mrs. Riddle was 90 years of age i will never forget what my grandmother said. Grandmother said go get those apples on the porch and i will bake an apple pie. I remeber getting the apples and grandmother made an apple pie. Which i really believe was the best apple pie that i have ever ate. When my grandmother was 94 she was ot on the front porch looking up to the sky my Daddy said Mrs. Riddle why you looking up she told my daddy i'am going home. Which she meant that she was going to be with the Lord.
