The Oster and Halwes Family Tree of Indiana

Updated June 16, 2001

About Our Family Research

Most of the members of this family tree have their roots in Germany. The information is authentic, to the best of my abilities. Information came from church and county records, also personal knowledge. The Halwes's Kampe,s and Alms's came from the Prussia, Germany area in the 1840's. They settled in Southwestern Indiana, Warrick County, to become farmers. Soon a small community was established, which they named Elberfeld, after the town of the same name, in Germany.
In ensuing years, the families intermingled. It's not uncommon to have the same family name appear from maternal and fraternal sides of a chart. This is the the case in my own chart.
