Kimberli Melvin Owens (born Melvin Lester Owens, III, on June 2, 1947) has been researching his family tree for over five years, now, and just last year (2003) learned of his ancestors on his mother's side dating back to 1799. Research on his paternal father's (Melvin Lester Owens, Jr.) side has been successful to his paternal grandmother's parents. The research continues for this side. A Microsoft Presentation CD is on file (available) for the mother and ancestors of Kimberli M. Owens named Holt and House. The Holt's; House's; and Owens' all hail from around the Pittsburgh, PA area, including Elizabeth, PA; and Canonsburg, PA.
Kimberli Melvin Owens graduated from Schenley High School in June, 1965; met Marcia Gayle Griffin that same month and year; was drafted into the U.S. Army in October, 1966; departed for duty in Europe (Germany) in April, 1967 and returned to the U.S. to marry his fiancee Marcia on December 27th, 1967. A daughter, Monique Nichole Owens was born to Kim and Marcia while stationed in Germany on November 27, 1968; after which Kim had to depart Europe for duty in Vietnam from April, 1969 to April 1970. A second tour of duty in Europe from 1971 to 1974 would see another daughter born to Kim and Marcia named Maneira Kimberli Owens, on September 18, 1972. They returned to the U.S. in 1974 and resided in Eatontown, NJ from 1974 to 1988 when they retired from military life and settled in Richmond, VA. They reside in Richmond, VA to this day.
Kim is the first and eldest son of June House (Holt) Davis whom, along with her youngest son, Charles J. Davis, Jr., still reside in Pittsburgh, PA. They are all direct descendants of the late Harold Washington Holt, himself a descendant of the Kibbee Family of Kentucky.
