The Idaho Oxfords originated in Texas. My grandfather David W. Oxford was the son of James Oxford and Mary Bowers. Mary is listed in the 1900 CENSUS as being born in France. David Married Mattie Johnston in Jacksboro, Texas in 1886. There were three boys and three girls born to this marriage. My father George M. was born in Benjamin,Texas, November 24, 1889. George Married Maude E. Lain in Havre, Montana on May 20, 1917. There were five boys and one girl born to this marriage. Maude was known as Nadine by friends and family. I am the fourth in line. George, Nadine and her parents, Charles N. and Letitia (Wheeler) Lain, moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho in 1920. Family still resides there. A reunion is in the making for the first weekend in August, 2001.
