John was born in 1819 and sadly convicted of larceny in 1836 at Newcastle Assizes, sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania) where he married Mary Smith (another convict) in 1843. Their first child another John was born in 1843. He married Lydia Anthony who bore my grandfather Sydney Oyston. My dad was Jack and I am Chris. My main search at the moment is for John snr's parents in Newcastle. If he was the first born they could have been married c1819.
