Murphey/Connelly/Burke/Sherman/Padgett/Sydnor/Stillings Updated March 13, 2001
About Our Family Research
I have been tracing our roots for several years now.My tree has over 800 people in it.I have traced the Padgetts/Boggs/ Bolling branch in Virginia directly back to Pocahontas Powhattan.Looking for parents of Albert Padgett and Realand Taylor who were born late 1800s.I have been trying to find how Samuel Thomas Sherman from Warrenton,Virginia, wife Margaret Loflin is related to Gen.William Tecumseh Sherman. It was told to me that we were related to the General.I am thinking that it must be through Thomas Ewing Sherman son of the Gen.W.T.Sherman but may also be from William Tecumseh Sherman Jr.Does anyone have info.on the Children of either of these men who were sons of Gen.William T.Sherman? I have traced our Alexander Vail Murphey/Ella Curry branch prior to the 1900s but I have been unable to find when they came to America.Would love any information you may have on this. They were from Westville,N.J.Also looking for info.on Alexandra Murphey. Also the Edward John Burke/Regina Lipsett/Walsh/Thornton branch has been hard to trace. Most of this family resided in Paulsboro,N.J.since the 1950s but they also lived in Baltimore and Philadelphia.Any info. here would also be of a great help.Especially parents and when they came to America. The Patrick K.Connelly/John Patrick Connelly/Mary Ann Hart branch has also been tough. So many John and Patrick Connelly's.They were from the Paulsboro,New Jersey area and Philadelphia areas. Can't find when the family came to America. The Sydnor Branch has been the most elucid.Adoption has made this a nightmare.Looking for relatives of Edwin Sydnor in Delaware. He was said to have had family from Virginia. Lastly the Stillings branch.I have traced it to Jacob Stillings in Cohansey,New Jersey but has anyone found when they came into America? Also Jacob born in 1757 and his father born 1740,neither have wives names listed.Anyone have their wives maiden names? Would like to hear from anyone with any relevant info. Thanks alot, Wanda J.Padgett
