I am researching the Rosario Pafumi family from Calatabiano, Catania Province, Sicily. His son, my paternal grandfather, Francesco, entered the US in New York in 1906. Francesco married Saveria Paratore/Paraturo, my paternal grandmother in Providence, RI, in 1908, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Rosario Pafumi visited the US in 1909/1910, and again in the late 1920s, according to US Census reports. These Census reports list Rosario as married; however, I know nothing about his wife Gaetana. Francesco's brother, Salvatore, came to the US later, and settled in Warwick, RI.
Saveria Paratore/Paraturo was from Messina, Messina Province, Sicily, and entered the US in 1908. According to the ship's manifest, she was coming to live with her brother in Providence, RI. Saveria's mother, Peppina, lived in Messina, until she died in the late 1950s or early 1960s. I know nothing about her husband, Rosario. Saveria had family living in the Chelsea, MA area in the late 1940s to early 1950s.
Also, I am researching the Auguste Noel family from Belgium, who entered the US in 1871, with his wife Catherine Pirotte, and their two children. His son, my maternal grandfather, Paul, married Mary Elizabeth Greenhalgh in Providence in 1904. It is rumored that Auguste may have left Providence about 1902-1905, and moved out of state.
Mary Elizabeth Greenhalgh was from Accrington, county Lancashire, England, and entered the US with her parents and sister in New York in 1891. Her father John was born in Manchester and her mother Elizabeth Rathbone was born in Preston, both in county Lancashire, England. John's mother Mary, who was a widow, was living in 1881 in Accrington, with her other children, Dorah (Dorothy), Sarah A., and Martha Alice. Dorothy married John Howarth, who was a preacher/minister during the mid 1880s.
Any information would be appreciated and I am willing to share my information, as well.
