TOBACCO FARMERS.STARTING IN DUPLIN CO. N.C.MOVING TO WAYNE CO.GA. IN 1921.BACK TO NASH CO. N.C. IN 1938.THEN TO HALIFAX CO.IN 1948/49 UNTIL 1956,THEN TO LYONS GA. IN 1956. WILLIAM REED PARKER WAS A FARMER WHO STARTED A TOBACCO CO-OP IN GA. FOR THEIR FARMERS. THESE FARMERS PAID WILLIAM TO BRING HIS FAMILY TO GA. AND SET THEM UP IN A FURMISHED HOUSE ,FOR HIS KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO PRODUCE AND CURE TOBACCO.HE WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN 1927 BY LONNIE BOYD OVER A CHILD SUPPORT DISPUTE FOR WILLIAM'S OLDEST DAUGHTER.AFTER HIS DEATH,HIS OLDEST SON,CLEGG,ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS FATHER'S AS WELL AS HIS OWN FAMILIY,WHICH TOTALED 12 PEOPLE.CLEGG WAS BORN IN 1905---HE WAS ONLY 22 YEARS OLD.HE CARRIED ON THE FAMILY TRADITION OF TOBACCO FARMING TO BOTH OF HIS SONS.
