Over the years, my parents and I have researched Parsons, Atkinson, Barr, Hamilton, Witt, Russell, Gentry, Randolph, and other families of Alabama, Arkansas, East Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and other states. I have incorporated their findings with mine and have uploaded much of that information to my website.
For example, I have compiled a list of the Arkansas and Texas descendants of Rev. Silas Witt and Susanna Randolph Witt, who migrated from northern Alabama to Texas with their extended family in 1871, when he was 81 years old and she was 76. This list originated with the work of my father, Roy Lee Parsons, who wrote the book Witt Family of Old Pike County [Arkansas] in the late 1960s.
I also have data on the family of Obediah B. Atkinson, one of the leaders of the Union League of North Texas during the Civil War and survivor of the Great Hanging at Gainesville, Texas, in October 1862.
My mother, Leora Atkinson Parsons, compiled the genealogies of two Hamilton families from Revolutionary War North and South Carolina who reunited in marriage in Texas a hundred years later. Much of her findings is on the website.
There is much, much more on my site, and I'm willing to exchange information with anyone connected with these families. Please visit http://pages.suddenlink.net/parsons.
