Notes for Mildred Ripley: [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 13, Ed. 1, Tree #2752, Date of Import: Jul 29, 2001]
She worked with her husband on the farm for many years, until his illness caused the family to move off the farm, in 1964. She was a nurse's aide at Marcy Hospital in Fort Scott, KS from 1968 to 1979. In 1991, she received a 50-year pin from the Order of the Eastern Star in Nevada, MO. She was a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church, where she served as church Secretary/Treasurer for 14 years, and was the pianist for many, many years. She was survived by one son, Max Pettibon of Nevada, MO, and one daughter, Peggy Pyle, of Nevada, MO; five grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Mildred lived in the Deerfield area all her life, except for about the last three months of her life when she was a resident of the Bristol Residential Home for two months and at Nevada Park Care from June 11th until the date of her death. She occasionally played the piano for the residents of both places. On July 4th, Mildred played the piano and her daughter, Peggy, presented a Sing-a-long program for the residents of Nevada Park Care Nursing Home. One of Mildred's "favorite songs" was Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord. One of the most "asked for" songs was Whispering Hope. Both songs were played at her funeral. Mildred lived in her own home for 83 years.
