Mrs. Jones (Martha M. Patrick, daughter of Mary and Elbert Kelley Patrick and grand daughter of Henry and Rachel Patrick) was born in Upshur County, June 22, 1857. On Saturday morning June 16, 1928, the death angel descended and cut the brittle thread of life and wafted her soul in to the heavenly city, where all is peace and joy and she can sing and praise God forever. She was married to Lewis A. Jones January 22, 1874. To them eleven children were born, one died while an infant, the other, Willie (Mrs. R. C. Britton) died in the year 1916. Mrs. Jones is survived by nine children Mrs. M. A. Hudson and Mrs. S. J. Benton of Quitman; Rufus H. Jones of Weinert; Mrs. H. N. Reich, Edward Kelly Jones, Marion Gordon Jones, Mrs. Lynn Hays and Jessee A. Jones of Houston; and Mrs. U. R. Butts of Breckenridge. She has 22 grand children living and 5 dead. She was a member of the church 43 years, being converted at the Prairie Valley Baptist Church in Hunt County, at the time of her death she was a member of Calvary Church.
