Stoltz and Snipps of Louisville Ky

I have been researching my family history sonce 1998 and I seem to be at a dead end. I only have gotten as far as both my great grandparents on my mothers side of the family. They are Victor Stoltz B: 11-23-1855 D: 06-19-1931. He married Alice Hurdle
B: 07-25-1860 D: 06-30-1922 They had eight children one of which is my grandfather Clarence Victor Stoltz. I am also searching for my Great Grandparents John William Snipp B: 1879 D: 07-02-1966 He married Johnnie Mary Bartley B: 1885 D: 02-13-1956. They had six children one of which is my grandmother Gertrude Augustine Snipp. Johnnie Mary was named after her father who was gunned down in front of a salloon I believe in Louisville Ky. Her mother was pregnant with her at the time. I can't find anything pass the 1900 federal census on either family. I believe they may have immigrated to the states or moved to Ky from another state.
