07/23/08 - I have been looking for my roots using what little knowledge I have since almost everyone in my family is deceased. Knowing this is a difficult task, I am trying to use the web to locate any possible relatives. I have recently found that I have the following names in my family: Saxer, Miller, Mengelt, Wetzel, Stintzi, Ruedi or Ruedy, Schilling, Tester, Accola, Bosshard, Wettstein, Mueli, Krischke, and Armstrong. My ancestors came from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Moravia. I recently visited the cemetery where my great great grandfather on my mother's side along with my great great grandmother is buried - Fairview Cemetery in Bangor, Wisconsin, not too far from LaCrosse where there is a wonderful library for researching the local area. His son, my great grandfather named Peter John Saxer, is buried in Hastings, Nebraska. His son, my grandfather named John Moritz Saxer, is buried in Texas. On my father's side, my grandfather and my father are both buried in Texas. My great great uncles owned land in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota.
