Elizabeth M. (Bettie) Witten was born Oct. 14, 1846 in Grundy County,Missouri, and died about 1926 in Gentry County, Missouri.
She Married Reese B. Whitley of Tazewell County, Virginia in
April of 1863 in Grundy County, Missouri, and they eventually
had nine Children.
Reese B. Whitley was a Farmer all his life, both in Virginia,
and Missouri. He was the son of James Whitley and his wife
Sarah Lain Moore Whitley of Tazewell County, Virginia, and was
a descendant of Paul Whitley who immigrated from England and
settled in Tazewell County, Virginia.
Reese B. Whitley's uncle, Milton Ladd Moore, (Sarah Lain Whitley's brother), was an early settler of Grundy County,
Missouri, having moved from Tazewell County, Va. Numereous
other of Reese's relatives also moved from Tazewell
to Grundy County.
Elizabeth M. Witten, although born in Missouri, was from an old
Tazewell County, Virginia family as well. Her parents, Sam
Kineral Witten, and Nancy H. Peery, as well as Sam's second wife,
Mary Frances Brown, (a cousin of Nancy H. Peery), all were from
Tazewell County, Virginia.

Were: Samuel, Charlie, Curtis, Green, Thomas, Emery, Hurley,
Sarah Frances (Fannie), and Nancy (Nannie).
