Researching my great grandmother's family from Wayne Co,West Virginia (formerly Cabell Co. & formerly Virginia). The oldest known member is Henry Luther who was born in New York State about 1791 but came to Cabell Co by 1820. He married Nancy Harmon in 1820. She may have been the daughter or sister of Thomas Harmon. Early census records indicate Henry & Nancy had a relatively small family of four or five boys and at least one girl before 1850. I'm most interested in their son, Rufus Martin Luther and his wife Sarah Jane Short. Their oldest daughter, Madora, married the divorced Noah D. Jennings of Perry Co, OH and moved to Effingham/Fayette Co's in ILL. Later, Madora's younger brother, Sidney, moved to Fayette Co also, married there and moved with his in-laws Westward to Hickory Co,MO and then on to Canadian, TX. Noah's mother's maiden name was Thorp and she may have had Thorp relatives in Wayne Co. I have no idea why Noah would have been in Wayne Co,VA near the Civil War otherwise.
