About Our Family Research

The orgin of the Penland family, whose name was spelled Pentland descended from the area near Edinbourgh, Scotland named the Pentland Hills, where the Pentland's owned considerable tracts of land and sold water to the city of Edinbourgh. In doing research, I found a society to preserve the Pentland name who re-corded a John Pentland who went to fight a war in 978 A.D. for some marquise ( I don't remember his name at present.)

They lived on Indian Creek, Paint Gap had six children: LAWSON, (My grandfather) who married Mallie Roland and had seven children and the second born was Grier Penland who was my father.
