I have just began tracing my heritage. There are two families of Penfolds here in Guelph. My family came to Canada in 1832 as part of the Pentworth Immigration program. Jesse Penfold and his wife Jane (Tribe) arrived in Canada aboard the Lord Melvin. They settled in Elora Ontario where the family farm exists still to this day (though it is no longer in the family). My great-grandfather, Russell Penfold moved west after the turn of the century to homestead. It was in Etonia Saskatchewan that my grandfather, Roy, was born. Alas farming was not the way to go and Russell moved the family back to Guelph. His house in Guelph is owned (70 years later) by my parents who still reside there.
I have been able to trace my family back to a William Penfold who married Lucy Child in the 1730's in Kirdford Sussex England. Beyond that I've hit a road block.
