His father was Francis Thorpe Penley the vicar for 23 years in Dursley, England, Glouchestershire County. He is buried in the Churchyard. (married twice 1. Marianne Knott (GGrandmother) 2. Caroline Edith Griffiths) Siblings: Lionel Banks Penley -1829-1911 (married to Mary Brindley), Godfrey Markham -1832-1851.

His father was Sampson Penley -1791-1838 (married to Katherine Wickey Taylor). Siblings: Montague -artist (married to Laetitia Didsbury), willilam, Belville, Rosina, Phoebe, and Emma.

His father was Samson Penley -1765-1832 (married to Lucy Finch) Siblings: Mary, John, William (married twice 1. Saulez? 2. Susanna), and Fanny

His father was Samson (married to Mary Towers -1754)
